What to expect from The CFO Partner in 2024

I have been writing on and off for years.
Blog posts, email newsletters and on Linkedin.
I like to share ideas.
However, stalled growth and other priorities got in the way, and writing became less and less frequent.
Why this Substack?
With time on my side in August, I started the CFO Partner by Matthew Needham to support busy CFOs and their finance teams with ideas to get ahead, make an impact, and increase their influence.
Because I believe that CFOs and Finance Teams have an outsized ability to significantly impact an organisation’s performance.
The CFO Partner is not about technical accounting or making substantial investments in Fintech.
It’s about business partnering, finance transformation, building high-performing teams and sustainably reducing the cost base.
I hope the CFO Partner can help fellow finance professionals overcome organisational barriers that prevent them from making an impact by laying down clear pathways to increase their influence.
So implementing some of the ideas will, over time, help improve your impact and, in turn, the impact of your organisation and, in time, your career.
The CFO Partner also supports my consulting work at www.matthewneedham.co by helping build awareness and sharing my ideas.
Being a CFO can be a lonely job. Many people only vaguely know what you do, and if they think about it, they believe it is just “doing the books”.
Often, you’re the water to the fire.
Your viewpoints may be opposite to those of others on the senior leadership team or widely held.
So, whether you’re a long-established CFO, newly promoted, or keen to be a CFO one day, you deserve to benefit from the long hours and tight deadlines that finance teams worldwide endure.
I want The CFO Partner to be your partner in your journey.
What can subscribers expect in 2024?
If 2023 was four months of feet-finding, I want 2024 to be the year of purpose for the CFO Partner.
All subscribers can expect the following:
Finance Fridays - Fresh ideas and insights to think about (weekly)
A deep dive into how to implement some of the ideas and insights (weekly)
A short weekend “round up” style post of things I think you’ll like (weekly)
An in-depth piece where I’ll share my experiences and goals (monthly)
Regular discussions and updates in the Chat section
Audio and video content at some point in 2024.
And while they’ll be a partially free element to almost all of that (Finance Fridays you’ll get in total), paid subscribers will get access to the whole shebang, as well as:
In addition, Paid subscribers can expect:
My full archive of existing articles
Exclusive first access to events, downloadable digital products (e.g. templates and presentations)
Exclusive discounts on courses or coaching
Ability to engage or comment on articles
Exclusive chats and online events
Maybe in-person events later in the year
And much more as the publication and my imagination evolve!
Finally, let’s wrap this up with a question:
As a subscriber, what would you like to get from the CFO Partner this year?
Please let me know in the comments below.
I am wishing you a happy and prosperous 2024.
Thanks, everyone 😊
